The AuSable Valley High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Terry Saulsgiver, recently held a cabaret-style fundraising dinner at Elks Lodge 2072 in Keeseville, which graciously provided its venue since renovations to the school cafeteria were ongoing after a recent fire. The event, with over 100 diners, raised more than $1,400. Also entertaining the crowd were social studies teacher Kevin Patenode, who crooned “Girl from Ipanema,” and 11-grader Victoria Payette, whose “Fever” rendition was reminiscent of Peggy Lee. Performing here are Jazz Band members Lydia Russom, tenor saxophone (front, from right); Victoria Payette, Ashley Hart and David Vicaro, alto sax; Sky Hanf (back row, from right) and Eric Potthast on trombone; Warren Daniels, drum set; and Joe LeClair, Lily Potthast and Aidan Tallman on guitar.
