GABE DICKENS/ P-R PHOTOS
Students in Brittany Goddeau’s kindergarten class react to Liisi Hogle’s model volcano (photo above), which featured the classic baking-soda and vinegar “eruption.” They were in Jodie Osborne and Jen LaBombard’s third-grade classroom, which was recently turned into a Mexican Museum by students at Peru Elementary School. As a part of their social-studies curriculum, each student had to research aspects of Mexican culture and create a visual display, which they used to teach students in other classrooms as they filed in throughout the school day. While in past years the project would take a month, it took students only a week to research, print out text and photos and assemble the final product, thanks to new laptop carts available to students and teachers.
