During last week’s Kent Gallery reopening, guests mingle while admiring an extensive collection of 34 paintings, along with prints, drawings, murals, sculptures and more created by renowned Adirondack artist, teacher, writer, and environment and political activist Rockwell Kent. The even featured speeches by President John Ettling and Kent scholar, art historian and director emerita of the Adirondack Museum Caroline Welsh. The gallery was closed in December 2016 due to vibrations from the construction work on the podium outside the Feinberg Library, where the collection is on permanent display, resulting in the paintings being moved to the Myers Fine Arts Building to prevent possible damage. The Kent Gallery’s regular hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
