It is one of nearly 200 portraits the artist completed of local residents over the past year. She began her "Face to Face" project in 2014 at Compass Printing on Main Street in downtown Saranac Lake. It was a convenient location to drop in for a two-hour sitting for a portrait, done in pastels and at no cost to Leifheit’s subjects. In the background are the walls of the library, nearly covered with the many 1-foot-square portraits she completed. Each person will receive a full-sized portrait digital print of their image as a gift from the artist. The show will be on display through Monday, Dec. 7. Baker said that she was so proud of her painting that she put it on Facebook for everyone to see. (JACK LADUKE/P-R PHOTO)
