Fifth-grade students at Oak Street Elementary School in Plattsburgh participate in the 15th-annual Oak Street Iditarod Friday afternoon. The students spent the last few weeks "shadowmushing," which involved learning about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska and the many factors that the mushers have to deal with, such as topography, distance and teamwork, which culminated in the students creating their own sleds and racing across a short course.
