During a blood drive at the Morrisonville Ambulance Station earlier this week, Nora Buskey, a phlebotomist II at the University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, inserts a catheter into the arm of Morrisonville resident Penny Cowan so that she can donate a unit of blood, bringing her yearly total to one gallon. Buskey said blood donations are greatly needed during the holidays due to the lack of donors. For example, while 14 units of blood were collected from two drives on Monday, 38 units are needed every day to keep up with demand.
